Every couple minutes, my desktop draws me a new picture:

Lappy doesn't actually draw me pictures. It's a series of background images from Vladstudio that are exactly the same except for different drawings on the paper. I have Windows 7 set to cycle through them at random. It changes the desktop image every 5 minutes.

Vlad has a tutorial set up that shows exactly how to recreate the sketchbook backgrounds. Right down to the exact numbers you need for the Photoshop settings. He also has some of the Photoshop source files available for download for "learning purposes". I use them for tweaking the images to my liking.

After years of admiring his stuff and having to crop and stretch all his backgrounds to fit my widescreen lappy, I bought the lifetime subscription to Vlad's site when I got newest Lappy so let me know if something is register/subscription only. I can't tell since I'm logged in. You should also check out his wooden house photos under the Personal tab.

I also highly recommend downloading his Vintage Photo Effect Photoshop template.

Oh, and currently Lappy is displaying pyramids.

I like the way you have your folders and icons arranged on the black borders, making the image look like a strip of film.

I actually can't remember. I've had it for over a year now. But made it my desktip just recently.

The widgets are, in order:
Clock
Photo area that cycles through all the pictures in my wallpaper folder
WeatherBug for Chicago
CPU temperature monitor
Drag and drop area for printing photos with my wireless printer. It changes appearance depending on whether or not the printer is on.

I decided on this because I changed the Firefox "persona" today. It had been the Boys, but I found the lovliest Firefly one I thought that the desktop should get a makeover with the same theme.


Here's the new persona (it's the strip at the top of the browser):
