All I know is it's a Nikon. I would have to get it over here to look at it. But she may have her own lead on getting it fixed.

What kind of camera and, most importantly, if you look at it, can you see the screws to take it apart?

If you can see the screws, I'd give it an 80% chance of me being successful. If I have to pry the case apart, then I'd say it's a 50/50 shot. Prying tends to lead to ripping important bits from the motherboard.
